Visit to Cairns by Australian High Commissioner HE Mr Jonathan (Jon) Philp – Wednesday 25 May 2022

Tradelinked Cairns-PNG-Pacific and EiiC (Exchange Innovation & Information Centre) welcomed the Australian High Commissioner HE Mr Jon Philp to Cairns on Wednesday 25 May.  During his visit His Excellency met with Mayor Bob Manning, Councillors and guests of the Cairns Regional Council at a morning tea followed by a discussion on potential partnerships between Papua New Guinea and Cairns.  He also visited the 3 shipyards to understand the marine industry capability in the region.  This was followed by a visit to the Court House Gallery to learn about the history of the building and our cultural partnerships particularly through the Cairns/Lae Sister City Program.

An end of day ‘Meet and Greet’ allowed the High Commissioner to intermingle with local businesses and organisations.  His Excellency was accompanied by Mr Kim Northwood, First Secretary-Economic Team, Australian High Commission, Port Moresby.
